How We Compile & Verify This Data
Every mileage figure in this database is the manufacturer's official ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) rating, sourced directly from each brand's published spec sheet at the time a model is added or updated. ARAI figures are measured under standardized lab conditions and routinely run 15–25% higher than what riders see in daily stop-start traffic — we call this out rather than presenting the lab number as a real-world guarantee.
- Pull the current published spec sheet for each model directly from the manufacturer.
- Record the ARAI-certified mileage figure, engine displacement, and BS6 Phase 2 (OBD-2) compliance status.
- Cross-check the figure against the model's official press release or brochure where one exists, to catch transcription errors.
- Re-verify entries whenever a manufacturer issues a spec update, a new variant launches, or a reader flags a discrepancy via the contact form.
BS6 Phase 2 (OBD-2) compliance status is checked against each manufacturer's published spec sheet at the time a model is added or updated in this database.
Adventure and off-road motorcycles run lower gear ratios and higher torque delivery than commuter platforms, which is why their mileage figures sit lower even when engine displacement is similar — we don't normalize this away because it reflects how the bikes are actually ridden.
